空性與佛性:曇鸞「十念相續」的空觀思想
Emptiness and Buddha-nature: The Observing Emptiness of Tanluan in “Continuity of Ten Recitations”
曇鸞十四歲於五台山削髮後,日夜不輟廣讀內外經籍,尤其喜愛研讀《中論》、《百論》、《十二門論》及《大智度論》等與大乘空觀義理相應之佛教典籍,可見曇鸞剛出家時並不是淨土信仰者,而是研究空宗的學者。他到了晚年才仰信淨土法門,從出家到接觸淨土法門之前,將近四十年的時間從事空宗思想的研究與體悟。本演講主要以「十念相續」及「生而無生」的議題為核心,探討曇鸞如何運用空觀思想以開展淨土教學法。
Tanluan (476–542) was an eminent Chinese Buddhist monk who entered the Buddhist monastic system in Wutaishan when he was fourteen. Originally a Buddhist scholar, Tanluan devoted himself to the study of Buddhist scriptures and treatises, especially those corresponding to the meaning of the Mahayanaobservation of emptiness (kongguan) such as the Madhyamaka-śāstra (Zhonglun), the Śata-śāstra (Bailun), the Dvādaśanikāya-śāstra (Shi’ermen lun), andMahāprajñāpāramitā-śāstra (Dazhidu lun). He spent almost forty years studying and practicing kongguan. Only in his late years did he come across the Pure Land School. This talk examines how Tanluan used kongguan to develop the teaching of the Pure Land, with a focus on the concepts of “Continuity of Ten Recitations” and “Rebirth but Non-rebirth”.
陳劍鍠,香港大學中文系哲學博士(1999),現任國立屏東教育大學中國語文學系教授兼主任秘書。研究興趣為中國彌陀淨土思想及宋明理學,著有《淨土經典100句:淨土三部經》(商周,2010)、《行腳走過淨土法門:曇鸞、道綽與善導開展彌陀淨土教門之軌轍》(商周,2009)、《淨土或問.導讀》(東大,2004)、《圓通證道:印光的淨土啟化》(東大,2002)及學術論文三十餘篇。
Professor Chen Chien-huang obtained his PhD from the School of Chinese, University of Hong Kong. He is currently a professor and chief secretary in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, National Pingtung University of Education. His research interests are Chinese Pure Land School and Neo-Confucianism. He has published four books on the Chinese Pure Land School and more than thirty papers.
