The International Conference on Excavated Texts and Pre-Qin Classics and History

It is our great pleasure to invite you to participate in the “International Conference on Excavated Texts and Pre-Qin Classics and History” to be held from the 16th to the 17th of October, 2015. The conference will be hosted by the School of Chinese, The University of Hong Kong and co-organized by the Centre for Chinese History, Department of History, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

This conference focuses on the study of the newly excavated texts and explores their relationships with the study of pre-Qin classics and history. It emphasizes the harmonization and integration of tradition and innovation, with the objective of bringing in new perspectives and insights into pre-Qin studies. We accept papers on the following topics:

a) The study of excavated texts (including oracle-bone inscriptions, bronze inscriptions, bamboo and silk manuscripts)
b) Mutual verification between excavated texts and transmitted texts
c) New approaches and interpretations in pre-Qin classics studies

The language of the papers and the oral presentations can be either English or Chinese (Putonghua). Interested parties please submit an abstract (of around 300 words in English, or 500 words in Chinese) to excavate@hku.hkby the 3rd of May 2015. Postgraduate students of HKU are also welcome.
