An Analysis on the Boundary Crossing Practice in Ye Si’s Kuangcheng Luanma

《狂城亂馬》於1997年獲得第四節香港中文文學雙年獎小說組首獎,作者署名“心猿”,關於他/她是否為也斯的問題曾在當時的香港文壇引起不小風波。2013年,在也斯(梁秉鈞)逝世後,他的友人代為宣布《狂城亂馬》正是也斯所作,為小說帶來新的討論角度。在結合作者的寫作風格進行文本細讀後,我認為這部小說是也斯越界創作的一次重要嘗試,因此,我將以也斯自己的書評為對照,分析他如何在文學體裁、寫作方法、文化觀念、創作主題等方面實踐越界理念。

Kuangcheng Luanma, a novel authored by Xin Yuan, won the 4th Hong Kong Biennial Awards for Chinese Literature in 1997, yet its authorship was left to be a debatable point in the literary community of Hong Kong afterwards. Some critics argued that Ye Si (Leung Ping-kwan), a renowned Hong Kong writer, wrote Kuangcheng Luanma under the assumed name Xin Yuan. However, up until Leung’s death in 2013, he never claimed his authorship of this novel. One of his close friends claimed at Leung’s funeral it was Leung who wrote Kuangcheng Luanma, which brings new perspectives on this novel. Based on close reading of the novel and Leung’s literary style, my studies conclude that Kuangcheng Luanma is a significant boundary crossing practice by Leung. With reference to his book reviews, my seminar will discuss how Leung explores the boundaries of literary genres, writing styles, themes and cultural ideas in his writing.
