Writer-in-Residence Scheme

The Writer-in-Residence programme hosted by the School of Chinese of The University of Hong Kong is funded by an alumnal endowment and represents a major outreach initiative of the School intended primarily to further the students’ interest in and knowledge of Modern Chinese Literature. Under this scheme, academics and writers of high stature and international renown are invited each year to visit the School for a two-month stint, engaging in a great variety of activities such as delivering public lectures, giving talks to staff and students of the School, conducting workshops and seminars, speaking in various tertiary institutions as well as serving as Adjudicator for “The Hong Kong University Modern Chinese Literature Award Competition”. The Writers are also expected to put out literary works on subjects relating exclusively to Hong Kong.

香港大學中文學院駐校作家計畫乃由校友捐款,中文學院籌辦之重要活動,藉以提高本校學生對新文學的興趣和認識。計畫每年邀請一位作家為學院「駐校作家」;該作家駐校期間,將會進行連串活動,包括公開演講、與院內師生座談、授課及到本港大專院校訪問或演講,並且擔任由學院主辦的「香港大學新文學創作比賽」的評判。駐校期間,創作一些以香港為題材的作品。
